2/3/16 Update from Silver Beach

Silver Beach News for 2.3.16

Happy February! The school newsletter is attached– big thanks to our publisher, Katie Kavulla!

Ask your student to share with you about the lockdown drill we had this afternoon. Our goal is to practice in such a proactive way that it does not cause stress upon students.  Schools are required by State law to practice the following drills: fire/evacuation, earthquake and lockdowns. Managing a school emergency requires planning in advance, training staff and practicing procedures with students, staff and families. It is a team effort. As with any unforeseen event, the school must be prepared to care for students and staff until the danger subsides. Natural disasters may disable transportation, communication, water and other services/systems. Practicing a variety of emergency scenarios helps make our responses automatic. For more information on student, staff, and parent responsibilities please see the linked Emergency Procedures for Parents.doc .
Have a great week! ~ Nicole
