4/13/16 Update from Silver Beach

Silver Beach News for 4.13.16

I hope you had an enjoyable spring break!  It is hard to believe that we are nearing the last fourth of the school year.  Each day, while visiting classrooms,  it is amazing to see how engaged our students are in high levels of learning.  We are excited to have the kids share, with you, the progress they have made this year at our Student Led Open House April 28th 6:00-7:00pm.

Our 5th graders left this morning for a 3-day experiential field trip to the North Cascades Institute.  As part of The Bellingham Promise the district is committed to providing all 5th grade students this incredible outdoor learning experience.  At Mountain School learn about the ecosystems, geology and natural and cultural history of the mountains. Here is a link to learn more about the Mt. School experience.

Tomorrow:
• PTO Meeting 6:30-7:30pm. Guest speaker Dr. Putney will discuss and answer questions regarding puberty and other school age common concerns.  I will give an overview on the BSD puberty curriculum.
Head Start Recruiting Open House 4-6pm.  FREE PRESCHOOL for qualifying low income families in the Silver Beach annex building in the Head Start classroom.  If interested please come with birth certificate for child aged 3 or 4 by end of August and earnings statement for your family for 2015. Door prizes too! flyer attached.
• Schools Serve Mariner Hot Dog. Students who eat a school lunch on April 15 will automatically be entered to win four tickets to see the Mariners play in Seattle during the 2016 season.

Have a great week!  ~Nicole
