8/24/16 Update from Silver Beach

Silver Beach News for 8.24.16

Welcome to a new school year!  In my 6 years here, it was by far the BEST first day!  It was so exciting to see all our 1st-5th grade kids and families.  This year we have 32 new students joining our community.

We are welcoming 85 kindergartners, another record number for us!  Tomorrow we are encouraging Kindergarten families, who are wishing to walk their child into class, to arrive between 8:40-8:50.  The playground will be open for parking as will the drop off lane and bus turn around. Kindergarten will be dismissed at 12:30 tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday.

Reminders:
Tomorrow is NOT and early release day. Dismissal is at 3:00pm.

We ask for your patience and cooperation with our drop off/pick up process.  We encourage families to drop students off between 8:00-8:15 to ease the congestion.  Before 8:30 am and after 2:30 please do not park between the playground and the school.  This area needs to be clear for our drop off/pick up line.  Once cars enter the parking lot please pull all the way forward before dropping off or picking up your child.  DO NOT STOP and DROP anywhere but in the lane in front of the school.

All numbered parking spots are reserved for staff members.  Please do drop off in the the annex alley.

Please label outerwear with your child’s name so that if something is left on the playground we can get it back to the rightful owner.

Due to allergy concerns, food safety, and District Policy prohibiting homemade food, our Parent Advisory Council voted unanimously in spring of 2013 to eliminate birthday treats.  We encourage parents to celebrate their child’s birthday at school with a birthday book. This book can be donated to the classroom or school library. A label will be placed on the inside of the cover to commemorate your child’s special day.

Upcoming Dates:
Aug. 29: Full day for Kindergarten
Sept 5: Labor Day- No School
Sept. 9: PTO Pizza & Ice Cream Social 6-8pm
Sept. 23: Jog-A-Thon

My hope is your child(ren) came home very excited about their first day back at school.  The staff at Silver Beach is looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!
