11/2/2016 Update from Silver Beach

Silver Beach News for 11.2.16

Dear Families,

I have been working with the Facilities & Transportation Department on ways to improve the safety and efficiency of our parent pick-up and drop-off areas.  1) No parking in the lane where busses come in and out- this is currently marked by orange cones.  2) The crosswalk in front of the playground will be restriped with the word ‘stop’ on either side- please do not park or block this crosswalk. 3) An ADA curb will be painted in front of the annex for the HeadStart bus and handicapped parking. 4) A sign will be posted in front of the annex that the alley is reserved for staff parking.   It is paramount for both safety and efficiency that students are ONLY dropped off in the lane in front of the school (not behind annex or in front of playground). I know our parking is exceptionally challenging and appreciate your patience and support.

Have a great week!

Join us at Silver Beach for FAMILY Book Fair Night! TONIGHT! 5:30 – 7:30 PM
Be the first to shop the fall book fair!  In addition, we won’t have all the “trinkets” out at this event (think pens, erasers, stickers, pencils, etc.) so you can focus your shopping on the books.  Also, don’t miss out on a special program in the library with Mrs. Cleary: “Vote to Read”!  Learn about the election process, hear some great election stories, and enter a raffle to win a prize!

Full Thanksgiving Heat and Serve Meals for Silver Beach Families

Thanks to our amazing Family Support Network (FSN) there will be a limited number of Thanksgiving meals available for families who receive Free or Reduced Meals. Our FSN is a group of Silver Beach Families helping other Silver Beach Families with basic need support. If your family could benefit from a ready-made full thanksgiving meal, please contact our school counselor, Brian Gilmore, at 676-6470 ext.2328. There is a very limited number of meals available and no guarantee that all requests can be fulfilled. Information regarding Families requesting support is kept confidential. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
Kids Night Out is becoming very popular! Due to this we will no longer be able to accept drop offs. The form needs to be filled out and returned to school by the day of Kids Night Out or an email sent to Susan Miner, [email protected] by 3:00 pm the day of Kids Night Out. The YMCA has a student to adult ratio that we must comply with and we also need to know how much pizza, drinks, and treats to purchase before the event.
Thank you for working with us on this. The next Kids Night Out is scheduled for Friday 11/18 from 6:30-9:00.
